MEDIA AND PUBLICITY
I am a Future Leader Youth Development Programme is a programme that uniquely focuses on injecting self –importance and confidence; encourages constructive social engagement; and also promotes the importance of education through career development sessions (offered by students in higher learning, young entrepreneurs and new entrants to the job market) offered to high school students residing in the rural parts of Bergville, KwaZulu Natal. Bergville, has growing incidences of substance abuse and crime, teenage pregnancy and adolescence negligence, an increasing number of unemployed individuals as well as a rising HIV/AIDS incidence rate. The combination of these results has hindered socio-economic growth; as well as prevented the chance for society to attain a favorable status.
Although it is true that we may not address these issues overnight; it is also equally true that we may alter our approach and work towards solution implementation. Addressing these issues through a youth development programme which focuses primarily on promoting the importance of education; we can rest assured that other issues will be addressed in the process. Education is more than just reading, writing and arithmetic.
Our vision is to combat the high levels of youth unemployment, including long-term unemployment, the increasing incidence of disease infections (the human immunodeficiency virus and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome: HIV/AIDS)-, and reduce the level of substance abuse and addiction –smoking, alcohol, drugs etc- in the Bergville community. The channel for reaching the described vision will be the implementation of a youth development program which will promote education, skills development and talent discovery at a youthful age.
To empower young people to realize their full potential, through the implementation of a youth development program.
